“ I drove all the way to this location because I read some clickbait article saying these were the best hot dogs in Delaware. I'm not sure if they're the best, but they're pretty dang good! I was pleasantly surprised that they were fairly priced and even their fries were good. I got the Kennett Square dog because it was covered in mushrooms, and it did not disappoint at all. Worth the small trip. ”

“ I stopped in for the famed "Delaware Destroyer" and was absolutely blown away. This beast of a dog comes with two franks piled with mac & cheese and grilled onions and smothered in spicy chili. Each bite was delicious. I found there to be generous amounts of mac and chili, the latter having the perfect lil spiced up kick. The service was friendly and quick. Johnnies also offers a ton of other hot dog varieties, but this one stands out just in description. I totally recommend this one if you're in the mood for somethin' other than your ordinary hot dog! ”
“ I was busy today around Concord Pike, so I needed somewhere to go for lunch. At most, I have a hot dog with sauerkraut twice a year. I was in the mood for it today. This was the second time I was in this restaurant. I ordered my hot dog, with a small order of fries to go. The woman behind the counter was taking order and cooking. She had a pleasant demeanor. Oh my gosh. She knew how to cook fries perfectly. They had bottled sodas and fountain sodas. I sat in the parking lot, and enjoyed my lunch while listening to heavy metal music. My busy day just got better. But, I had squash baked with olive oil for dinner to make up for such an unhealthy lunch. I noticed that the restaurant is clean!! ”
“ It's not much from the outside or even on the inside but the food coming out of this place is top notch. We had to visit on National Hot Dog Day, of course so we tried six different types of their hot dogs from their Plain Ol' Dog to their Tijuana, which was loaded with flavor and spiciness. Most dogs are between $3.50 and $5.00 so it is truly reasonably priced. Plus, you're getting some pretty fine hot dogs! ”
“ A solid place to get hot dogs all doctored up. Various toppings and combos to choose from. Their fried chicken are ok, but the Buffalo wings are a hit. My husband is a big fan of them. We would go for a drive so he can get his cravings satisfied. The wings are large, nicely crisp, well balanced tossed of Buffalo sauce so it's not overly drenched and won't be soggy. ”
“ I've been here several times before and, for the most part, the food is great and the service is fast. They are practicing adequate Covid protocol with social distancing and it seems to be effective. I feel safe while I'm in this restaurant and it seems clean throughout. For this trip the service was efficient as expected. I ordered a Plain Ol' Dog, Texas Tommy, Texas Ranger, Fries, and Fried Oreos. Never forget the fried Oreos! I almost did and my daughter would've killed me! I'll start by reviewing the Oreos and they were amazing! Fried perfectly, wrapped so they didn't get messy, and sprinkled with confectionery sugar made them perfect. My kids enjoyed their hotdogs while I enjoyed mine which was the Texas Ranger. One critique I have is the hotdogs are small. So if you're interested in filling up you should get at least two. Coupled with fries (or another side) and a drink, just one will do. This place is listed on the food networks best in Delaware and I suggest you try it out. I'm a local but I am going to try most restaurants throughout this country. I agree with the Food Network suggestion. This is one place you don't wanna pass up if you like hotdogs. But who doesn't like hotdogs? ”
“ I happened to be in Wilmington, DE, a city I had never been to before, looking for an interesting place to have lunch. After searching Yelp, I came across Johnnie's Dog House & Chicken Shack. Any place that features two of my favorite foods, hot dogs and fried chicken, count me in. I am so glad i stopped in, had the Texas Dog with chili, jalepeno's, onions and BACON...as well as very good chicken. The dog had a nice snap to it was flavorful, oh did i mention it had BACON...chicken was moist juicy and was just as good later when I got home, since I could not eat all the pieces I purchased. Did not try fries or onion rings or anything else, just to two most important food groups, hot dog with bacon and chicken. ”
